This is a hands-on role for a qualified accountant who is looking to strengthen technical skills, gain industry experience and develop commercial awareness. The Financial Accountant will play a key part in not just keeping the finance function running smoothly, but also enabling better planning, insight, and decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Manage the month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis
- Oversee external bookkeepers and monitor the general ledger for accuracy
- Prepare monthly management accounts with clear variance analysis and commentary
- Maintain ownership of balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
- Support year-end close and preparation of statutory financial statements and consolidated financial statements
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of financial records across entities
- Prepare and review VAT returns and related filings
- Collate information for corporation tax returns and liaise with external tax advisors
- Act as the primary internal contact for auditors and support the audit process end-to-end
- Work with external advisors to ensure compliance with intercompany transfer pricing regulations.
- Support ongoing statutory and regulatory compliance requirements
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and re-forecasting cycles
- Assist with financial modelling and scenario analysis
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support commercial and strategic decision-making
- Lead projects to improve visibility and tracking of spend across projects and programs
- Document and maintain finance process notes and internal controls
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and scalability
- Partner with the Head of Finance on finance system enhancements and automation initiatives.
- Improve project and program accounting, including cost allocation and reporting.
